Naomi Hope Lusk, MA, LSW

Welcome to Blossom Trauma Therapy! My name is Naomi (she/her) and I work as a healing companion for those that seek to improve their well-being through reclaiming confidence, agency, and meaning within their lives. When I was in high school, I connected with a higher purpose of helping others and found my passion in therapy as a career. As a multiracial Asian American and member of the queer community, I have learned personally how important it is to recognize and honor all facets of identity that make up who we are as unique individuals within our journeys of growth. And from my own traumatic experiences and liberation, I have become strongly motivated to specialize in trauma work to assist others in processing the past, adapting to the present, and finding ways to look forward to the future.

After becoming a social worker, I found myself working as a Substance Abuse Counselor and General Therapist, connecting with a wonderful group of people from a number of different backgrounds and with their own individual needs. Through these experiences, I was given the opportunity to learn who I am as a practitioner and the kind of work I would like to specialize in. When it comes to mental health presentations I feel most comfortable, competent, and passionate in supporting, I discovered that work around Trauma, Addiction, and Grief and Loss align well with my personal strengths and interests. I also learned that it is incredibly important to support other issues that may have an immense and interconnected impact on these experiences, such as emotional distress, disruption in relationships, personal identity, sexual intimacy, and life stressors to name a few. If you have any questions towards how I can support you in your own healing process, please reach out and we can see if we are a strong fit to begin working with each other.

I would describe my therapeutic style as flexible, insightful, tailored to the individual, and unconditionally genuine in all regards. I believe a therapeutic relationship is a relationship at its core and as such requires the elements of any healthy relationship to be present, like open communication, acceptance, non-judgment, trust, and safety. In addition, beginning a relationship with any practitioner in the mental or physical healthcare realm may invite a sense of a power imbalance and I wish to always prevent this from occurring or dismantle it if it should arise. I find benefit from utilizing theories and strategies from research-tested therapy interventions when applicable or relevant. The strategies I lean into are taken primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Parts-based and Internal Family Systems, and Inner Child work. I do not provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) but am hoping to pursue training in the future.

And on a personal note, I moved to Denver, CO, in the fall of 2024 and have been greatly enjoying my time here. I’ve lived in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts prior to this relocation and can say with certainty that this new home is right up my alley. I studied at Indiana University Bloomington and the University of Pittsburgh for a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work. My personal time is spent engaging with my hobbies, studying to improve the services I provide, spending time with loved ones, and generally being a homebody that steps out and connects with the world and nature every now and then. I have a black cat named Juno and she is the love of my life! Some hobbies and interests I like to enjoy are making and listening to music, playing video games, experiencing all sorts of stories from a variety of different mediums like manga and novels, exploring fashion and clothing, shopping and finding new stores or cafes, and hanging out with the people that remain incredibly strong sources of support in my life. I look forward to meeting you!
